Salvador Escobedo is an international consultant and executive in the oil and gas, financial services, and public sectors. He has established a solid reputation as a strategic leader who optimizes procurement processes and drives financial growth. Salvador Escobedo’s journey in the oil and gas sector began with PEMEX Petróleos Mexicanos, where he served as vice president of procurement strategy from 2016 to 2017.
He helped overhaul the company's procurement strategies, significantly reducing costs. By implementing a comprehensive approach to category management and strategic sourcing, Salvador Escobedo successfully negotiated master service agreements (MSAs) with key suppliers for critical resources like oil country tubular goods (OCTG) and subsea wellhead.
In 2017, Salvador Escobedo moved to PEMEX Procurement International (PPI), based in Houston, as president and CEO. He oversaw international procurement for PEMEX’s upstream, midstream, and downstream operations in this role. Under his leadership, PPI expanded its operations by 220 percent, with total procurements growing from $750 million to $2.5 billion within two years.
He is the international procurement consultant at one of the largest oil & gas operators in South America. In this role, he designed, structure and implemented its US-based procurement arm. This affiliate company has the main objective of buying directly from manufactures and eliminating excessive mark-ups from local intermediaries.
